Your Guide to Men's Slippers

If you would be so bold as to attend a black tie affair in a velvet jacket than your sartorial swagger had better extend to you foot wear. Velvet slippers at a black tie event boldly declare that while you respect tradition, your individual self-expression will not be stifled.
One word of caution, these shoes are traditionally strictly reserved for home usage and should not be worn if you must walk any great length to your soiree. Hopefully your evening includes chauffeured transport and your slippers never touch concrete unless it is covered in rose petals or red carpet.
Two options from Ralph Lauren: A traditional black slipper but with a pink monogram across the vamp (above). Or, a red tartan plaid slipper with a gold monogram. Much respect must be paid to the gentleman who successfully sports the plaid pair.

Barker Black imprints their “Rock and Roll Chic” design aesthetic on the traditional slipper by embroidering the toe with a skull and crown. Feels like something Russell Brand would wear if his stylist convinced him he absolutely had to dress up for the evening.

Bowhill and Elliott offer a stunning slipper with an intricate gold tulip design. Perfect for the dandy who’s out on the town.

Brooks Brothers offers a classic and conservative slipper with no embellishments. Perfect for the gentleman who doesn’t need accessories to make his point.
