Three Films You Should Watch

I am slowly becoming convinced that some of the best films are those found on the internet. Prior to the internet, having your movie seen by millions usually meant you had a distribution deal. Today, there are millions of movies available to us online, many by talented filmmakers that never had a forum to present their work, until now.
Today we’re launching a regular series, Film Obsessions, a collection of handpicked short films that you can watch online.
We’re bringing you three films: Harmony Korine’s Act Da Fool presented by Proenza Schouler, Tune by Csilla Szabo, and Penis by Simon Costin.
Act Da Fool
Launching a clothing collection these days doesn’t just mean a runway show and lookbook anymore. Designers are embracing social media as a powerful tool to connect with their audience and buyers. This past summer, Proenza Schouler used viral video to pre-launch their 2010 Fall/Winter collection by creating a controversial video directed by Harmony Korine (who also wrote the critically acclaimed 1995 drama, Kids).
The movie, Act Da Fool, features a group of African-American girls who are living in poverty. They smoke. They drink. They curse. They vandalize. And they are decked out in Proenza Schouler.
While some have criticized the film to be offensive, I found the movie to authentic and just about as offensive as the movie Precious, which is a difficult movie to watch, but reveals a honest and raw glimpse of the reality of hopelessness.
This is a very powerful 4 minute movie not easily forgotten.

Runtime: 4 Minutes & 18 Seconds
Tune
Tune is short narrative film about the power of music. The film starts with a blind musician in a subway station playing a song on his keyboard. His performance is recorded by a curious bystander until the bystander gets in an altercation with a pimp and has his camcorder stolen. From there, the music starts its journey. We watch as the song travels through people and places and ultimately ends up in its final destination. The last scene is very powerful one, and I believe, sums up the music industry for many musicians. The film is a must watch for anyone in the music industry.Director: Szabó Csilla
Cinematographer: Domokos Balázs
Runtime: 7 Minutes & 39 Seconds
Penis
Penis is the latest creation from Simon Costin, international respected art director and set designer for the late Alexander McQueen and Lanvin.
The film, Penis, is part of the Fashion Body series on SHOWstudio.com, an award-winning fashion website that has consistently pushed the boundaries of communicating fashion online.
The movie starts with a beautiful city scene, full moon, perfect night when suddenly a penis lurks in the distance waiting to attack. The penis takes on a Godzilla-like personality by tearing through buildings, trampling through the streets, and creating chaos and destruction everywhere with even a final “happy ending” at the end.
Costin's work has been displayed in many exhibitions, at venues as diverse as a forest in Argyll, the ICA in London and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
