Benjamin Francis Leftwich | Mike Skinner Remix — “Atlas Hands”

Although British singer/songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich may still be in the burgeoning stages of his career, he has still managed to perk a few ears.
The Streets frontman Mike Skinner recently took notice of the singer/songwriter by creating a remix of Leftwitch’s 2011-released track “Atlas Hands.”
Both versions, available on Leftwitch’s "Atlas Hands" EP, lend their own unique charm. The original is acoustic, full of sentiment and sincerity, which are all of those things that you would expect from a dreamy little folk ballad. Perhaps the acoustics are a little too Death Cab for some, but the wistful lyricism combined with the female back up vocals offer something pleasantly unexpected.
Skinner's remix still keeps the integrity of Leftwich's version with a track that doesn't strip the original down to its skeleton, rather Skinner layered the track with synth and combined it with a more exaggerated bass, heavier female vocals and did away with the acoustics all together.
Skinner’s mix is a little cacophonic and disorganized, but wonderfully so.
He managed to take a simple folk ditty and transform it into something you can actually move to. Take a listen!
Keep it loud
